Brazilian keeps world record holder Sullivan at bay by 0.41sec

Cesar Cielo (BRA) fell just 0.06sec shy of the world record in the semi-finals of the 50m freestyle, keeping the standard-bearer at bay by 0.41sec. Cielo clocked 21.34, an South American record. Alain Bernard (FRA), feller of the Australian in the 100m yesterday, took the second semi in 21.54.
